Stampsheen H2O™ Water-Based Acylic Sealer

  • StampsheenH2O is a standard interior/exterior, water-based acrylic sealer that can be used when Solvent Based sealers cannot be used (Solvent Based Stampsheen Sealer sold here)

  • It provides a medium/high gloss designed for use on concrete and pavers, and it’s non-yellowing. This sealer will provide increased resistance to the elements, such as rain, sun, stains, and other pollutants that can compromise the look of your surface.

  • StamphseenH2O is your sealer of choice when the solvent is not an option

  • V.O.C. compliant (under 150g/L VOCs), non-yellowing, and medium/high-gloss

  • Breather type sealer that provides a flexible and durable film.  25% Solids.

  • Water cleanup

  • Recommended for use on Pavers, Stamped Concrete, Stenciled Concrete, Acid Stained Concrete, Overlayment, Microtoppings, Exposed Aggregate Concrete, Broom Finish Concrete, and Trowel Finish Concrete. Other uses may be acceptable..

  • Coverage: @ 250-350 sq. ft. per gallon, First Coat.  @ 300-400 sq. ft. per gallon, Second+ Coat.
    • *Coverage rates vary depending upon surface porosity and texture, and application thickness.

Additional Information:

  • When used indoors on a floor, it's a good idea to use on top of it a high quality floor wax, to protect and prolong the sealer.  Top-coat of sacrificial Floor Wax/Polish (Wax sold here)
  • While normally used indoors, where the smell of a Solvent Based sealer needs to be avoided, Stampsheen H2O can also be used outdoors
  • Stampsheen CAN be used inside too, and then protected with a top-coat of sacrificial Floor Wax/Polish (Wax sold here)

Instructions:

SURFACE PREP: All surface must be clean and free of all contaminants and water. Do not apply if rain is forecast within 24 hours. If moisture is present or if the surface is not clean and free of all contaminants, the sealer may have white spots and have premature delamination and failure. Substrate temperature must be no less than 50 degrees F and not exceed 80 degrees F. If applied outside these limits the sealer may not achieve adequate film formation and may have excessive air entrapment, bubbles, blushing or hazing.

MIXING: Stir well before using. Material may separate during long term storage.

APPLICATION: Apply using a 3/8”-1/2” nap roller cover using long even uniform strokes at approximately 125-150 sq. ft. per gallon on pavers or 175-225 square feet per gallon on decorative concrete depending on porosity and texture of substrate. Use a roller to backroll. Do not allow to puddle! Thick or puddle areas may prevent the water from evaporating and may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which may cause milky white spots. Applying too thin may cause sealer to prematurely delaminate, flake or wear away. Allow sealer to dry for 24 hours for light traffic and at least 48 hours for heavy traffic. If applying two coats, wait approximately 4–6 hours between coats.

PLEASE NOTE: It is always recommended to test the product in a small, inconspicuous area (on the same concrete substrate) for desired results prior to application. Coverage rates may vary for all coatings and substrates depending on porosity, density, texture etc. If applying by spray method, extended coverage rates may be achieved, but be aware that less material will be applied and inadequate film formation or performance expectations may be limited.

►Stampsheen H2O will freeze. If so, discard in accordance to local laws.
►It is not recommended to apply Stamsheen H2O over carpet, tile, and other types of floor adhesives.
►Coverage rates depend upon many conditions including application method, surface porosity, applicator, etc.
►Stampsheen H2O was designed for concrete and to be applied in two thin coats, not one thick coat.
►Please be aware that this product when cured may be slippery when wet.
►Stampsheen H2O may alter the surface of many new and existing concrete slabs. Test prior to use..

What are the differences between a solvent-based vs. water-based concrete sealer?

A water-based concrete sealer provides a low odor alternative to traditional solvent-based sealers. With these water-based sealers, you can avoid messy, lengthy clean ups in the event of a spill. Since the sealer is water-based, it is easily cleaned up with a water and rag.

A water-based sealer works by being applied to the concrete. Since water is mixed in with the polymers that form the hard layer, the water will eventually evaporate. When the water evaporates, the molecules move closer together and form a hard, glassy surface.

The water within the solvent ensures there are minimal odors, which makes it safe to use in low ventilation areas. Additionally, the low-VOC properties make application even easier. Rather than having to purchase metal sprayers or specific brushes, a general paint roller or plastic sprayer can be used with confidence to apply the product.

Unlike solvent-based sealers, water-based sealers are milky (light white) in appearance. This can make it easier to see where the product has been applied. However, the final appearance isn’t as glossy as solvent-based sealers. Those who prefer a less glossy appearance can purchase water-based concrete sealer in matte varieties, as well.

Solvent-based sealers will darken the surface more than water-based. Water-based formulations can perform as well or better than solvent-based sealers.
