GUIDE for EPOXY FLOOR COATING - Products and basic quantities needed to do a professional quality, industrial grade floor coating system. Calculated for basic sizes of standard garage floor spaces. Inexperienced applicators should consider getting slightly more epoxy than suggested, as you may use slightly more than necessary do to unfamiliarity with the application process.
*Please note that this guide is assuming you choose to use either Acrylic Flake or Quartz Sand as a broadcast, which requires slightly more Epoxy be used. Using Acrylic Flake broadcast entails a layer of Epoxy, spread the broadcast, and then a top coat of clear Epoxy. Using Quartz Sand broadcast entails a layer of Epoxy, spread the sand broadcast, apply another coat of Epoxy, spread another layer of sand, and then a final clear topcoat of epoxy (if on an area of no direct sunlight, as direct UV light will make clear epoxy yellow over time) or urethane (totally UV stable- no yellowing). If you want to just do a pigmented Epoxy, with no broadcast, then these calculations will not be accurate for you.
** Please also note that epoxy floor systems need to be applied to flooring with minimal moisture/vapor occurrence. Using a moisture meter, any substrate in excess of a level 3 moisture vapor emissions rate needs to have a vapor barrier applied prior to the epoxy (this is not very common though).
